Fresh Flowers

The Magic Bean Farm grows a wide variety of field grown flowers and herbs. We aim to provide a healthy habitat for beneficial insects, pollinators and birds which is why we use minimal inputs like sprays and chemicals.  As stewards of the land, biodiversity and soil health are imperative for high quality blooms. Our offerings are field grown which necessitates working with the seasons. This means that each week our offerings vary slightly depending on what’s available. Throughout the growing season (April-September) you can find our seasonal blooms available through our CSAs, Flower Farm Shares, in our mixed bouquets, DIY buckets, or at local florists and shops.

Variety is the spice of life, so at the Magic Bean Farm no two bouquets are exactly the same. We grow a lovely mix of surprising, fragrant blooms in a rainbow of colors, textures and shapes. Sometimes you will find unusual grasses, herbs, branches, or even native wildflowers* in your bouquet. No flower, herb, or plant is off limits if it holds up nicely in the vase. Because of the nature of our gardens and the scale of our operation we think that more variety yields more interesting arrangements. We love the good old-fashioned favorites like zinnias and sunflowers, and we also like to experiment!

Our Flower Philosophy

According to the study “An Environmental Approach to Positive Emotion: Flowers” by researcher Jeannette Haviland-Jones, Ph.D. (source: Society of American Florists)

Flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods. Specifically, study participants reported feeling less depressed, anxious and agitated after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction.

It’s no surprise that flowers are good for your mental health. People are delighted when we deliver fresh bouquets, even if the flowers aren’t for them! This feeling is palpable and it is our sincere belief that everyone deserves flowers and they are not a frivolous luxury. That being said, not everyone has access to or can afford flowers, which is why we created a project called Flowers for the People. The goal is to provide our locally grown, fresh flowers and evergreen wreaths to community organizations and assisted living facilities so more people may access the benefits of flowers. With the help of our Patreon members and donations from you, we share our abundance with the community.
